Trees House LAN IV. Reviewed in the forum, January 2004.
I been to Tree's lan before so this isn't a new experiance for me but it was for ROM. I'll let him post his own review and just give you my feedback.
Tree's lan is a small lan just starting to fill a 24 port switch. It's best quality is it's people. There are games from New jersey which is quite a hike but non as far as Ohio and Canada. The still keep it small mostly cause of power restraints but I think it's better that way.
It's a great group of guys and I did have fun but I think the only complaint would have been the "layout". They had 4 tables separated from the "main area" where the lan was. At first I didn't mind being in the sectioned off area but it became an apparent problem when a game of BF was already in full swing before me and ROM knew about it. After thinking of the layout some more I think the sofa, love seat, and TV should have wandered into the sectioned off area and me and ROM seated with the rest of the gamers. Mind you this was a sever after thought cause the lan was over before I even thought of this. We did leave early because of a previous appointment but still I think it was a good lan.
And before ROM decides to openly bash the CS players that were there (well I really hope he won't) I'd like to remind him that no matter what lan you go to there is usually a preferred game and with these guys it's CS. Unforunate that I did not have my CDkey to install HL (left it at home), else I would have been in it just like the rest of them. But I don't hold it against them.
:D :D :D I give this lan a 3 out of 5 Score
Well, for being in someone's basement is was not too bad. I feel that being in a seperate room from the rest of the gamers at the lan really detracted from my experience. I felt left out of the loop. My other problem/blessing with the lan party is how CS was a majorly played game...And after playing that for about an hour I decided to stop and wait for the next game to come up. Little organization or motivation moved the lan party. So I got into a game that I had yet to play Need For Speed Underground. And then about 4 hours or so later, it was getting late so Wolf and I decided to go sleep. Well atleast he slept, I kinda tossed and turned lol. Anyways, when we got up most of the CS players were sleeping and the ones awake were playing another game called America's Army...Think what you will, but after a while I got into the game (had to download it and stuff), and then I was having slightly more fun than when I was tossing and turning in my car lol. Anyways, finally they decided to play a really good game called Battlefield 1942 (Thank god!), and we got about a 5 v 5 for a while. But then shortly after I started hearing Marvel vs Capcom (2), so I went in and saw them playing console games...AT A LAN PARTY :(. Then they started watching Family Guy and I watched a few episodes before I suggested to Wolf that we get going. Then we got out of there. It was alright I would've probably had a better time if we were in there with the rest of the gamers.
Hmm stomping grounds for Doom... I'll have to forward this to him
That sounds alot like GoDS original LANs at CyberfireX's house, we gamed alot in one game .. usually UT or StarCraft and watched movies occasionally :)
I'd have to say there was 1 major differeance...
With the original GoDS lanparties we watched the movies late at night when people were sleeping anyway or they were hoping that the movie would put them to sleep.
Tree's little DVD session was in the middle of Sat... People were up and around. I admit I watched one episode while at the lan ... but then I was looking for some gameage. A few others were still gamin while the the TOOB was on but unfortunately they were in CS online.
I think my review was pretty kewl towards the CS players...Mainly because Quake 3 will be that old...someday and I don't want people to say shit to me.
Yeah but Quake 3 already is old... It's a cool game I prefer Team Arena. BTW Cyber: our parties were also alot smaller back then usually 7 - 10 people.
