GoDS LAN. Date - Jan 27 to 28, 2006. What the attendees said afterwards, in the forum.
So guys here is your chance to let us know what you liked, disliked, or if you just want to jabber on about this past lan.
Just to get things started,
We do know about the poor ventalation/heat at the event. Poor directions/hard to find issues are things we are also looking into.
Soooo let hear what you have to say...
Don't be so hard on yourself...
You did a great job with ventilation. Initially, yes, it was a bit warm. But things cooled down, the fans really helped.
Directions were simple, honestly. The problem was just that the building doesn't look anything like the type of place you'd hold a LAN :) I suggest using landmarks next time, but that wasn't too much of a problem.
The venue was excellent, though a bit cramped. It's a small price to pay for having a place with good parking, clean bathrooms, and accessibility to major roads and what, like 3 Wawas.
It was a casual LAN, and that's good to see. I think that's the way it should be, honestly. Network was blazing fast. I'm very impressed, if not inspired to do better with Havok.
However, I cannot comment on games and such. But everything else was perfect! Keep up the good work guys!

The lan was alot of fun. I met a whole bunch of fellow lanners. There were games going on constantly and they were all fun. The power had no trouble and the network was faaast. The only problem was that the table i sat at with Killbane and Tora Bora kid kept on having sometrouble connecting to the network. And the temperature was a little high, but there really wasn't that much the could be done in a small room like that, and the directions were kinda wierd as div3 said. All in all, it was a great lan, and I will be coming back.
i personally thought the directions, combined with those pictures, where pretty great. it was easy to get to and on relatively major roads. lots of food in the area, and people were kind enough to make runs for me. got a bit of the runs from wendy's though (the one by the home depot).
i think different tables will be a must for the next lan if that is able to be done. i personally have a hard time believing 2 people could fit at one of those tables. the chairs were really comfortable.
i liked the metal playing in the background, fit the FPS moment pretty well :) though sometimes it seemed like the mudvayne was on repeat a little too often.
the door outside, while secure, was pretty annoying. the buzzer was 2 seats away from me and every few minutes it would go off, and sometimes people would get a little crazy with it, but that cant be helped.
The directions were extremely easy, and it was in a great location in relation to i95! Though, a sign out front would've been nice since the only reason I identified the building was CybrWlf was standing out front on his phone.
It was a great building, very good lay out for what they were given to work with (3 seperate rooms). The network, work great, and was very fast. The only issue that was had by my stay was a switch needed to be hard-reseted because some of the ports were still set to another mode, which didnt allow us to connect. I am very pleased to say that within in a few minutes of it being noted by myself, the staff hoped right to it and fixed it (before anyone else in the room hooked up to that switch because they were all setting up still).
It was a little warm, but its better than being freezing imo...Of course I have poor circulation to my hands haha. I left before any fans were brought into improve the situation. The music was a nice touch too.
Very clean place, great parking, great location (just needs a sign next time, but I now know where it is lol). It was a great lan at a brand new location. I hope that you guys have many more lans to come from this place! ^-^
Computer problems aside (seems I can't get through a LAN without SOMETHING going wrong with my rig ) the LAN was great. We had a little problem with the directions, but that is only because we didn't follow them LOL. The space was good, only thing that I would try to fix is the tables. The way Shap and I were sitting, I was actually spanning 2 tables. It wasn't a show stopper, but just a thought for the next time. We didn't stay the whole way through, but for the time that we were there I thought it was an overall good experience. I am definitely looking forward to GoDS next LAN!!

Overall I had fun. Even with me struggling to change my sens mid-tournament in vegas. Mostly we played cod2 and vegas, with some q4 and bf2. The heat was an issue but after I threw my shuttle on the floor that seemed to help.
My only problem was space, the layout called for nearly 30 people but the table I was at (about a meter wide) didn't seem to have room to accomadate two people. There were around six or so tables like that.
Great reunion since I haven't lanned with anyone that attended in months. All the food places located nearby a big plus.
Cool seeing the pics. Thx bro!
